  • Animal Care: Support daily feeding routines and monitor the well-being of our birds. Help clean enclosures, prepare safe and enriching spaces, and observe behavior to ensure their health and comfort.

  • Health and Welfare Support: Lend a hand during routine check-ups by assisting with essential tasks, preparing supplies, and providing logistical support. Help us track health data and monitor individual cases to ensure every animal receives the care it needs.

  • Visitor Education & Experience: Enhance learning and connection by accompanying guests during visits and workshops. Support educational activities and events, and help provide clear guidance and information to enrich every visitor’s journey.

  • Operational Support: Be part of what keeps our mission moving. From helping with basic maintenance around the facilities to managing day-to-day logistics, your support ensures our team can focus on protecting wildlife and delivering impactful programs. Every task, big or small, contributes to the bigger picture.

At Mateus Foundation, we believe protecting the world’s extraordinary wildlife is a responsibility we all share, not just for today, but for the future we’ll leave behind.

What are the requirements to apply?
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Minimum commitment of 4-20 hours per week.

  • Must be currently enrolled in university or a recent graduate.

  • This is an unpaid volunteer position; participants must cover their own transportation, food, and lodging expenses.

  • Must be in good physical condition to carry out assigned tasks.

  • Submit a medical certificate attesting to good health.

  • Must authorize a background check and comply with any additional administrative requirements.

Can I participate if I have no previous experience in conservation or animal care?

Absolutely. Our program welcomes individuals with or without prior experience. We provide training and guidance to ensure you can learn, grow, and contribute safely and confidently.

What kind of activities will I do as a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you might help care for and feed birds, assist with maintaining facilities, support educational programs, keep spaces clean and safe, and lend a hand during special events. Every task plays a part in making a meaningful impact.
